Wow - I am having so much fun with our October Cookbook Club covering the delicious food of Puerto Rico! I’ve learned so much already about some of the dishes that are really special to this island.

I’m also really excited to look ahead to next month’s Cookbook Club pick! Are you ready?

For the month of November, we’ll be cooking through The Greek Islands Cookbook by Carolina Doriti. I had the absolute pleasure of traveling around Athens and the island of Tinos with Carolina, learning about what makes Greek food so special, and let me tell you, the food I tasted on this trip was unmatched.

One thing that I was fascinated by on this trip was the fact that the food on each of the Greek islands can be very different. The differences in the soils, weather, and cultural influences of early settlers mean that the flavors and ingredients can vary from one island to another, despite their often very close proximity.

So, next month, we’re going to dive in and hopefully cook at least one recipe from each group of Greek islands. This, to me, is exactly what I hope The Edible Itinerary can be - learning about the nuances of a place and its people through food, even from the comforts of our own kitchen.

Carolina is a multi-talented chef, writer, and producer who has spent years researching the food and flavors of her country and bringing her knowledge to others through her cookbooks, the TV series My Greek Table, and as the Athens bureau chief for Culinary Backstreets. You can find Carolina’s book here, and I also encourage you to follow her on Instagram @carolina_doriti.
