A cooking class in Lake Atitlán taught me more about Guatemala than any tour ever had. It also made me think back to small-town Tennessee, where "international food" meant Mexican or Chinese, and how far I've come since. That trip is why I started The Edible Itinerary, a cookbook club for anyone who believes the table is the way into a place.
